Anda

The Message of Anda

On the ancient steppe, there exists a tradition. This tradition is called "anda".

The word "and" means oath or vow in the languages of the steppe peoples. From this word, "anda" is derived: a covenant between two people who trusted each other so deeply that they swore to consider each other as brother or sister. Such bonds were forged only once in a lifetime and remained valid forever. They were often sealed with blood. Both persons cut into their palms with the blade of their sword and swore loyalty to each other.

This philosophy, the Anda, is also a covenant.

But not a covenant with another.

But a covenant with yourself.

A set of principles that are not necessarily the absolute truth – because part of this philosophy is precisely the recognition of uncertainty – but a collection of beliefs that you, somewhere deep in your heart, feel are right and for which you want to live.

And perhaps, someday, will want to swear by.
